At NFI, we believe SAFETY = PERFORMANCE

Preventive maintenance that is over and above DOT standards keeps our large fleets of tractors and trailers in prime condition – and keeps your product delivering on-time. The average ages of our tractors are under 2 ½ years, so even though we have operating centers across the nation, the need for anything more than preventative maintenance work is rare.

Our driver hiring standards exceed the industry standards. NFI drivers must have at least one year experience before they drive for us and even then, we put our drivers through a rigorous two and a half day orientation that includes hands-on training as well as a training stimulator.

Our goal is to keep our well-trained drivers on the road, delivering your product safely and on-time.

James South

From the MW region, James has been with NFI for 9 years and is from Kentucky. He likes the opportunity for career pathing that NFI offers drivers as well as the opportunity to earn bonuses like the Safety and Mileage Bonus.

Herb Harrell

From the NE region, Herb has been with NFI for 21 years and is from Virginia. Herb has won Driver of the Month and many Safety Awards. Herb reflects that "It isn't necessarily the Company you work for, but the people you work with, and NFI has great people."

Tony Stickland

From the SW region, Tony has been with NFI for 22 years and is from Mississippi. Tony has won a Belt Buckle and a NFI Safety Award. Tony believes that the keys to success for a driver is to have a good working relationship with their Driver Manager.

Horace "Bucky" Volkmar

Horace is one of the longest standing employees in NFI -- he can well remember all the Brown brothers being in high school and college! Bucky has been a driver for 52 years and has worked for NFI for 37 years, starting with us in 1971. His current position is Local Spotter/Utility Man. When asked why he has stayed with the company for all of these years, Bucky replied, "Good people and a family environment." Bucky has received the NFI Safety Bonus every year since its inception in 2003. Ron Foster, Bucky's manager, tells us, "Bucky's years of service and dedication to the organization make him an irreplaceable employee. His in-depth knowledge of NFI and his willingness to do a variety of tasks solidify his status as NFI's number one driver."
